Discovery Of Bacteria:

1. Contributions Of Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek:

He was known as microscopist.
He for the first time discovered bacteria.
For discovery of bacteria he done his discovery by using single lens microscope which was designed by him.
In a series of letter to "Royal Society Of London" he published his observations regarding discovery of bacteria.
In his observations protozoans were also included and he called them "animalcules.

2. Contributions Of Christian Gottfried Ehrenberg:

For the first time introduced the term "Bacterium" in 1828.
The Bacterium which he studied was a genus which contain non spore forming rod-shaped bacteria.
As opposed to bacillus bacteria, Ehrenberg in 1835 defined a genus of non spore forming rod-shaped bacteria.

3. Contributions Of Louis Pastuer:

In 1859, Louis Pastuer demonstrated that the growth of micro-organisms causes fermentation.
Also he stated that this growth is not caused by spontaneous generation.
Robert Koch and Pastuer was the early supporters of " Germs Theory Of Disease".

4. Contributions If Robert Koch:

He was microbiologist.
He was working on cholera, anthrax and tuberculosis.
Finally he proved "Germ Theory Of Disease" during his research on Tuberculosis.
Due to this great work he received Nobel Prize in 1905.

5. Contributions Of Fridnand Cohan:

He is known as founder of bacteriology.
He for the first time classify bacteria on the basis of morphology.

6. Contributions Of Paul Ehrlick:

He for the first time discovered first antibiotics.
In 1908 he received Nobel Prize for his work in Immunology.

7. Contributions Of Carl Woose:

In 1977, Carl Woose stated that archea have separate line of evolutionary ancestry from Bacteria.
This phylogentic taxonomy is based on sequencing of 16S Ribosomes.
Due to this prokaryotes are divided into two domains.
